UEG Podcast Available: The Rise of EoE
As Eosinophilic oesophagi's (EoE) is now a well-recognised chronic inflammatory disease of the oesophagus. However, its path to becoming an established diagnosis is relatively recent.
In Episode 73 of the UEG Podcast, Prof. Alex Straumann, Founder of EUREOS, shares his personal perspective on the early years of EoE research and clinical practice. He reflects on the first observations of patients presenting with food impaction and eosinophilic inflammation, discusses how these findings led to the recognition of EoE as a distinct disease entity, and highlights the challenges encountered along the way.
The conversation also explores diagnostic considerations that remain relevant today, including the distinction between EoE and oesophageal eosinophilia, as well as the limitations of symptom-based disease assessment.
EUREOS is proud to be a collaboration partner of UEG.
